Naturebase®
is this place on the web for nature- and environmental information. Naturebase®
is good for primarely pupils and teachers whom are interested in the world around
and its continuous existence as we want to see our planet. Naturebase®Guide
is a collection of links to other information sources of mainly similar kinds
of information.
On
November, 17, 1998, the Naturebase® project leader, Ulrich Jessen received
the Environmental Price of 1998 from the
Arch Episcopate of Uppsala from the hands of bishopTord Hallin in the prescence
of the episcopate council and the arch bishop, Bo Hammar. The honourable prize
was shared equal together with the teacher Christer Evaldsson, Broskolan for
the Kayak Project and Marianne & Helge Berglund because of their environmentally
sound farming methods.

Naturebase® is a service for
the educational systems in Sweden and for all of you on other parts of our fine
planet.
The Naturebase project was started in the Ecologic Workshop in the school Broskolan
in the community of Upplands-Bro, just 35 km North-West of Stockholm in Sweden.
Naturebase® has now finished
Step 2:2, and in the Naturebase® project Step
2:2 (97-04-01 - 97-12-31) and to be more precise, we have made a presentation
of the Mammals in Europe in pictures and a systematic presentation - all with
the easy-to-use multimedia program HyperStudio, as the big multimedia bird presentation
(NaturebaseFåglar 1.0) which we have done earlier. The mammal production
also shows good hints for users to go further with adding more information with
the Hyper Studio program, after having downloaded the CD-ROM-based mammals information
on a hard disk
In the project start we had planned to produce a complete digital teaching/learning
media to be used in different languages (incl. english) around the whole Baltic
Sea sphere.
This project idea was confined by its own limitations due to the experiences
we had made during the project work proceedings.
We came to the following standpoint: Most teching/learning aids are ready to
use, and the user has mostly no possibilities to change the product according
to the own taste or needs - in other words: there is very little true interactivity
in most digital teaching/learning media on the market. And it is still the same
situation, with very little exceptions.
